The ten-year period which
followed the stock market crash of October 1929 is
referred to as the Great Depression. This period is
considered to be the worst and most difficult time of
Modern American History by business historians.
Unemployment was as high as 27% Among White Americans
and reached 60% among African Americans. In
Mississippi, on a single day in 1932, one quarter of
